Genesis of our demo-crazy

Feb 17, 2014 at Trivandrum, kerala, India

After 30 years in journalism and having seen more ugly than beautiful faces at close quarters, I often wonder what the future of our country and our Gen Next.

Witnessing today's party politics that borders on insanity, I often wonder, who led us to the road of rot.
Seeing how the unwieldy but well-meaning constitution hijacked by a bunch of slefish, myopic politicians I wonder why did our fathers allow it?

Watching the country getting divided on communal lines with magic word 'minority' having gained a sacred status, I wonder why nobody stopped it.

Witnessing how systematically our SC and ST get converted to faiths unfamiliar to them and using them as solid vote back I wonder who should diagnose the ills and propose a cure

I have found this with no malice towards anyone

First major mistake was taking up British Parliamentary system that suits a people of leisure and a people having one language, a system that is very expensive, unsuited for a poor country like India
who did and why?

Motilal Nehru's filial love got the better of country's wellbeing. He pushed Gandhiji (playing on sentiments which high caste Indians are used to: pran jaaye par vachan na jaaye). He had supposedly said sometime the young Jawahar was a good catch. Moti thus forced Baapu to accept Jawaharlal to head a government of nascent India and that was the beginning of the end of a great dream. He was an egoistic, undemocratic and ill-trained man who could not fit in leading a poor, straggling country to a better future. He had no idea how India was formed, which was accomplished by Sardar Patel, it is history, only besotted Congressmen will deny it.

Neru was a man in a hurry to become PM. and he thought to look neutral, he has to bash Hindus who had had never a saviour worth the name. Having found no voice to run him down, he and his aides discovered a magic word 'minority' which found ready acceptance because they voted en bloc. Lo! the foundation to a divided India was laid.
.................and then? see next post
